Receive Solana (SOL)
Receive Solana (SOL)
Receiving SOL in Begin Wallet is quick and simple. Whether you are moving funds from an exchange, receiving a payment from a friend, or withdrawing from a dApp, Jamie will walk you through the steps.
How to Receive SOL
-
Open Begin Wallet
- Launch the Begin Wallet app and make sure you are logged in.
-
Select your Solana wallet
- Tap the SOL icon from your wallet home screen to open your Solana wallet.
-
Tap "Receive"
- You will see your Solana receiving address along with a QR code.
-
Copy or share your address
- Copy the address to your clipboard and send it to whoever is paying you, or let them scan the QR code directly.
-
Wait for confirmation
- Solana transactions confirm in seconds thanks to the network's ~400ms block times. Your balance will update almost immediately.
-
Check your balance
- Once confirmed, the SOL will appear in your available balance on the wallet home screen.
Jamie's Tips for Secure Receiving
- Verify the address: Always double-check the address you share. Solana addresses are base58-encoded strings that typically start with a number or letter.
- Use QR codes: Scanning a QR code eliminates the risk of copy-paste errors.
- No memo required: Unlike some exchanges, receiving SOL in a self-custodial wallet like Begin does not require a memo or tag.
Jamie's Notes
- Solana addresses are derived from your wallet's keypair and are compatible with all standard Solana wallets and exchanges.
- Receiving SOL is free -- you only pay fees when sending transactions.
- You can also receive SPL tokens (Solana's token standard) at the same address, though your wallet may need a small amount of SOL to create the associated token account.
